DEU 21:20

DEU 21:20 They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and
rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a profligate and a drunkard.”

21 Then all the men of his town shall stone him to death. You must purge
the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid.

29:19 When such a person hears the words of this oath, he invokes a
blessing on himself and therefore thinks, “I will be safe, even though I
persist in going my own way.” This will bring disaster on the watered land
as well as the dry.

1SA 1:14 and said to her, “How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get
rid of your wine.”

PSA 69:12 Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of the
drunkards.

PRO 20:1 Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by
them is not wise.

21:17 He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil
will never be rich.

23:20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on
meat,

21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in
rags.

29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who
has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

30 Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when
it goes down smoothly!

32 In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing
things.

34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the
rigging.

35 “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I
don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”

31:4 “It is not for kings, O Lemuel–not for kings to drink wine, not for
rulers to crave beer,

5 lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all the
oppressed of their rights.

6 Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;

7 let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no
more.

ISA 5:11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning to run after their
drinks, who stay up late at night till they are inflamed with wine.

12 They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and
wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the
work of his hands.

22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing
drinks,

19:14 The LORD has poured into them a spirit of dizziness; they make Egypt
stagger in all that she does, as a drunkard staggers around in his vomit.

24:9 No longer do they drink wine with a song; the beer is bitter to its
drinkers.

11 In the streets they cry out for wine; all joy turns to gloom, all
gaiety is banished from the earth.

28:1 Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim’s drunkards, to the fading
flower, his glorious beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley–to that
city, the pride of those laid low by wine!

3 That wreath, the pride of Ephraim’s drunkards, will be trampled
underfoot.

7 And these also stagger from wine and reel from beer: Priests and
prophets stagger from beer and are befuddled with wine; they reel from
beer, they stagger when seeing visions, they stumble when rendering
decisions.

56:12 “Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine! Let us drink our fill of
beer! And tomorrow will be like today, or even far better.”

JER 25:27 “Then tell them, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of
Israel, says: Drink, get drunk and vomit, and fall to rise no more because
of the sword I will send among you.’

HOS 4:11 to prostitution, to old wine and new, which take away the
understanding

7:5 On the day of the festival of our king the princes become inflamed
with wine, and he joins hands with the mockers.

14 They do not cry out to me from their hearts but wail upon their beds.
They gather together for grain and new wine but turn away from me.

JOE 1:5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you drinkers of wine;
wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips.

3:3 They cast lots for my people and traded boys for prostitutes; they
sold girls for wine that they might drink.

AMO 2:8 They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge. In
the house of their god they drink wine taken as fines.

12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not
to prophesy.

MIC 2:11 If a liar and deceiver comes and says, ‘I will prophesy for you
plenty of wine and beer,’ he would be just the prophet for this people!

NAH 1:10 They will be entangled among thorns and drunk from their wine;
they will be consumed like dry stubble.

HAB 2:15 “Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the
wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies.

16 You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn!
Drink and be exposed! The cup from the LORD’S right hand is coming around
to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

MAT 24:49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and
drink with drunkards.

LUK 12:45 But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a
long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the menservants and
maidservants and to eat and drink and get drunk.

21:34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation,
drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you
unexpectedly like a trap.

ROM 13:13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and
drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and
jealousy.

1CO 5:11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone
who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater
or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

6:9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers
will inherit the kingdom of God.

GAL 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality,
impurity and debauchery;

20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage,
selfish ambition, dissensions, factions

21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did
before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

EPH 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be
filled with the Spirit.

1TH 5:7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get
drunk at night.

GEN 39:12 She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But
he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house.

EXO 20:14 “You shall not commit adultery.

22:16 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and
sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.

17 If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay
the bride-price for virgins.

LEV 18:20 “‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and
defile yourself with her.

19:20 “‘If a man sleeps with a woman who is a slave girl promised to
another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must
be due punishment. Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not
been freed.

29 “‘Do not degrade your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land
will turn to prostitution and be filled with wickedness.

20:10 “‘If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife–with the wife
of his neighbor–both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to
death.

11 “‘If a man sleeps with his father’s wife, he has dishonored his father.
Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on
their own heads.

12 “‘If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to
death. What they have done is a perversion; their blood will be on their
own heads.

DEU 5:18 “You shall not commit adultery.

22:13 If a man takes a wife and, after lying with her, dislikes her

14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this
woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,”

15 then the girl’s father and mother shall bring proof that she was a
virgin to the town elders at the gate.

16 The girl’s father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in
marriage to this man, but he dislikes her.

17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be
a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her
parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town,

18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him.

19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels of silver and give them to the
girl’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name.
She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he
lives.

20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl’s virginity
can be found,

21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the
men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done a disgraceful thing
in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must
purge the evil from among you.

22 If a man is found sleeping with another man’s wife, both the man who
slept with her and the woman must die. You must purge the evil from Israel.

23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and
he sleeps with her,

24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to
death–the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and
the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil
from among you.

25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledged to be
married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die.

26 Do nothing to the girl; she has committed no sin deserving death. This
case is like that of someone who attacks and murders his neighbor,

27 for the man found the girl out in the country, and though the betrothed
girl screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and
rapes her and they are discovered,

29 he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry
the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he
lives.

23:17 No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine prostitute.

27:20 “Cursed is the man who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he
dishonors his father’s bed.” Then all the people shall say, “Amen!”

22 “Cursed is the man who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his
father or the daughter of his mother.” Then all the people shall say,
“Amen!”

23 “Cursed is the man who sleeps with his mother-in-law.” Then all the
people shall say, “Amen!”

PRO 2:16 It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife
with her seductive words,

17 who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made
before God.

18 For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the
dead.

19 None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.

5:3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother
than oil;

4 but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.

5 Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.

6 She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she
knows it not.

7 Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.

8 Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house,

9 lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is
cruel,

20 Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of
another man’s wife?

21 For a man’s ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his
paths.

22 The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold
him fast.

6:24 keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the
wayward wife.

25 Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you
with her eyes,

26 for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress
preys upon your very life.

27 Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?

28 Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?

29 So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her
will go unpunished.

32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys
himself.

HOS 1:2 When the LORD began to speak through Hosea, the LORD said to him,
“Go, take to yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness,
because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the
LORD.”

MAT 5:27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’

28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already
committed adultery with her in his heart.

32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital
unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries
the divorced woman commits adultery.

15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual
immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

19:9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital
unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

18 “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not
commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,

MAR 7:21 For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual
immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

10:11 He answered, “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman
commits adultery against her.

12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits
adultery.”

19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do
not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father
and mother.’”

LUK 16:18 “Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits
adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

18:20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder,
do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”

JOH 8:4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of
adultery.

5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”

6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for
accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with
his finger.

7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them,
“If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at
her.”

8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones
first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one
condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus
declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

ROM 7:3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still
alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is
released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries
another man.

13:9 The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not
steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are
summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

13 “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food”–but God will destroy
them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord,
and the Lord for the body.

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I
then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!

16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one
with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside
his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

GAL 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality,
impurity and debauchery;

21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did
before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

EPH 5:3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality,
or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for
God’s holy people.

5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person–such a
man is an idolater–has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of
God.

HEB 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept
pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

EXO 32:1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from
the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who
will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt,
we don’t know what has happened to him.”

1SA 15:26 But Samuel said to him, “I will not go back with you. You have
rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you as king over
Israel!”

18:12 Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had
left Saul.

1CH 28:9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and
serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD
searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If
you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will
reject you forever.

ISA 1:28 But rebels and sinners will both be broken, and those who forsake
the LORD will perish.

65:11 “But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain,
who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny,

12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the
slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not
listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.”

JER 17:5 This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the
LORD.

6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity
when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt
land where no one lives.

MAT 24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray
and hate each other,

26:14 Then one of the Twelve–the one called Judas Iscariot–went to the
chief priests

15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?”
So they counted out for him thirty silver coins.

16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

MAR 10:14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the
little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these.

LUK 8:13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when
they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the
time of testing they fall away.

22:4 And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple
guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.

JOH 6:66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer
followed him.

1CO 9:7 Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard
and does not eat of its grapes? Who tends a flock and does not drink of the
milk?

2TH 2:3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not
come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the
man doomed to destruction.

1TI 1:19 holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected
these and so have shipwrecked their faith.

20 Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to
Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the
faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

HEB 3:12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving
heart that turns away from the living God.

6:4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have
tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,

5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the
coming age,

6 if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their
loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him
to public disgrace.

10:26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,

27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will
consume the enemies of God.

28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the
testimony of two or three witnesses.

29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who
has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing
the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the
Spirit of grace?

2PE 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome,
they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.

21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of
righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the
sacred command that was passed on to them.

3:17 Therefore, dear friends, since you already know this, be on your
guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and
fall from your secure position.

JUD 1:5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the
Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did
not believe.
